Summary

Come join an excellent team at Sweetser working as a Mobile Crisis Intervention Specialist. The Crisis Intervention Specialist provides assessment, support and stabilization services in the community, within crisis stabilization units, and over a 30-day post-crisis stabilization period.

Varied hours with some day and some evening shifts.  This is a 10 month position beginning in September.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Responds to requests for crisis intervention, consultation and support from person served, family members, community-based service providers and state agencies in order to resolve crisis situations involving children and/or adults who are experiencing an acute psychiatric crisis.
  • In collaboration with the caller, determines the need for a face-to-face assessment and, if needed, negotiates a meeting site convenient for the individual that provides safety for all involved.
  • Crisis Intervention Clinicians are encouraged to provide service in the least restrictive setting that supports the comfort and dignity of the person served.
  • Communicates directly with persons experiencing a crisis in order to assess mental status, current level of functioning, and the person's wishes and goals for crisis resolution.
  • Develops a crisis stabilization plan with the person served and family or guardian, if involved, based on a comprehensive crisis assessment that includes mental status and risk assessments.
  • May request protective custody interventions by law enforcement personnel in order to resolve potentially life-threatening situations.
  • May facilitate voluntary or involuntary hospitalization in accordance with state regulations.
  • May facilitate the use of alternatives to hospitalization, including voluntary admission to crisis stabilization units.
    Develops and participates in implementation of crisis follow-up treatment plan by providing intervention services, including the provision of brief case management services and aftercare.
  • Authorizes, if appropriate, the allocation of state contract funds in order to support alternatives to voluntary/involuntary admissions at a hospital or mental health facility.
  • Provides necessary information/communication to meet all requirements needed for managed care authorization of services and 3rd party insurance reimbursements.
  • Meets recordkeeping requirements by the timely completion of assessments and by maintaining current case notes, logs and other information as required in the client's chart.
  • Assumes other tasks necessary to support program functioning as assigned by the Program Manager or designee.

Education Requirements

  • Master's Degree in social work or other clinical mental health discipline or related field; or Bachelor's Degree in social work or related field with a minimum of two years of relevant experience required.
  • MHRT-C preferred.

General Requirements

  • Clean Driver's license.
