2005 Sold on Kids Auction A Success
Posted on 04/08/2005 at 09:39 am
Sweetser's 13th Annual Sold on Kids Benefit Auction & Dinner at the Marriott at Sable Oaks in South Portland raised nearly $70,000 to benefit the organization's three residential crisis units for children in Belfast, Portland and Saco. More than 350 friends and supporters attended the event, hosted by Lee Goldberg of WCSH 6 and chaired by Carol Thorne and Melissa Baker Richter.
Sponsored by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Cares, Groesbeck Investment Management, and Tyler Technologies' MUNIS Division, the event featured dinner, live and silent auctions, and entertainment by the Richter-Kiley piano and cello duo.
Auction items included tickets to the sold-out Sting concert, lunch and tour of the Portland Police Station with Chief of Police Michael Chitwood, a lobster bake for 20, and vacation getaways to Hawaii, the Bahamas, Quebec City and more. Auctioneer and host committee member Bill Zafirson partnered with emcee Lee Goldberg to excite the crowd during the live auction. Several bidding battles meant more funding to help Maine's children find promising futures.
