Sweetser has received a grant totaling $16,225 from the Billy Weiss Foundation. The funds will be used for clients in the Rockland and Mid Coast region for emergency needs.
The Billy Weiss Foundation based in Rockland, was established in 1999 by Louise Weiss, in memory of her son who had some mental challenges. Mrs. Weiss wanted to be able to help others with similar challenges, and especially wanted to help those with transportation needs so they would be able to keep their mental health appointments.
Sweetser was selected to receive funding because of a strong presence in the Mid Coast region and a reputation for being a leader in the mental health field. The emergency funds have helped more than 40 clients and families for emergency expenses, ranging from transportation to appointments, rent, client hotel accommodations for some emergency situations, and heating fuel.
