Warren resident and school-based therapist for Sweetser, Holly Tracy was recently named the organization's Garland Award recipient.
The Garland Award, which honors a Sweetser employee who exemplifies service in the community and excellence in the workplace, was named for Laurence "Bud" Garland who served on Sweetser's Board of Directors for 33 years.
"Holly Tracy models the values of connection, caring and giving to others," said Sweetser President & CEO, Carl Pendleton. "These qualities make her an invaluable asset to Sweetser and the children and families we serve."
Holly joined Sweetser in 1999 as a school-based therapist serving the schools of Tenant's Harbor, Thomaston and St. George. Her region expanded earlier this year to include Sweetser's new therapy services at the Rockland Head Start.
In addition to her work with Sweetser, Holly is actively involved in her community. She serves on the board of Freedom Riders, a Rockport-based therapeutic riding program, and chairs the Local Case Resolution Committee, a collaborative of area social service organizations that makes small grants to families to help cover the gaps in children's mental health services.
Holly received the award at an employee recognition ceremony earlier this month.
With a history dating back to 1828, Sweetser is Maine's most comprehensive behavioral and mental health care organization dedicated to serving children, adults and families. Sweetser offers services that address emotional disturbances, mental illness, behavioral disorders and learning disabilities through an array of educational programs, preventive services, community-support services and residential homes.
