Students from School at Sweetser Celebrate Arts, Ocean Style

Posted on 05/02/2005 at 09:30 am

Oceans is the theme of this year's Learning Arts Fair at The School at Sweetser in Saco. The event, which marks its 21st anniversary this year, takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at The School at Sweetser.

The Learning Arts Fair is the culmination of three months of interdisciplinary study around the theme "oceans." In the two weeks leading up to the fair, students will hear from the director of marine studies at the University of Maine, participate in a presentation on sea life by the Maine Maritime Museum and learn about saltwater fish and pets from the staff of Pet Quarters.

The fair features a variety of hands-on art activities led by staff and volunteers. Singer/ songwriter Alison Lee Freeman will provide a morning workshop on chantey songs and a finale concert following a BBQ lunch.
