Sweetser is pleased to announce two new additions to its management team, Ronald Taglienti as director of child and family community services and Bob Fowler as director of adult community-based services. In addition, Candice O'Brien has been promoted to senior director of outpatient and adult community-based services and Deb Taylor has been promoted to Controller.
"We are fortunate to have the addition of these experienced leaders," said Carl Pendleton, president and CEO for Sweetser. "They provide an impressive slate of experience, coupled with an understanding of Maine's human services landscape, that will help Sweetser meet the changing needs of the communities we serve for years to come."
Ronald Taglienti has more than 25 years of experience managing children's services for the state's Department of Health and Human Services.
In his previous position as manager of the Children's Behavioral Health Services division, Taglienti was a leader in the state's development of community-based mental health services for children. This system dramatically decreased the number of Maine children in out-of-state hospitals. His expertise includes developing and managing services for children with autism, mental retardation, mental illness and behavioral disorders.
Taglienti, who resides in Auburn, will oversee all of Sweetser's child and family community-based programs from Brunswick north to Belfast.
Bob Fowler has more than fifteen years of experience as a social worker, including ten years in leadership. He has managed a full spectrum of adult mental health programs including outpatient counseling services, employee assistance programs and mobile crisis teams.
Prior to joining Sweetser, Fowler directed outpatient clinical services for Community Counseling Center in Portland. As the Director of Adult Community-based Services for Sweetser, Fowler will be responsible for the organization's adult services in the greater Brunswick area. Fowler resides in New Gloucester.
Candice O'Brien was promoted to senior director of outpatient and adult community-based services. She previously served as practice administrator for the organization's outpatient therapy and psychiatry services in Brunswick and Damariscotta. O'Brien is a resident of Portland.
Deb Taylor was promoted to Controller. In this role, she will be responsible for the oversight and management of all financial services for the organization which serves close to 20,000 people a year with a budget of over $50 million. Taylor, who resides in Wells, was previously the director of patient accounts for Sweetser.
With a history dating back to 1828, Sweetser is Maine's most comprehensive behavioral and mental health care organization dedicated to serving children, adults and families. Sweetser offers services that address emotional disturbances, mental illness, behavioral disorders and learning disabilities through an array of educational programs, preventive services, community-support services and residential homes.
