January 7, 2009   DAMARISCOTTA, ME - Sweetser, a mental health agency serving adults, children and families experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges, has located crisis clinicians in its Damariscotta office “to increase our responsiveness to emergency mental health needs in Lincoln County,” said an agency spokesperson.

Clinician Mary Hanley, along with other members of Sweetser’s Crisis Team, provide crisis outreach services to any resident of Lincoln County who is experiencing a mental health crisis, according to Cindy Fagan, vice president at Sweetser. “Sweetser provides crisis outreach 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, in any location convenient for the adult, child or family in need,” Fagan said.

“Most of the Mainers who call us for crisis outreach services prefer to meet our crisis clinician at a place that is familiar and that they consider safe and comfortable, such as their home, school or doctor’s office,” she said.

“Given the choice, most people experiencing an emotional crisis, would prefer not to meet at the emergency room of a hospital. Sweetser crisis services is committed to making the experience of reaching out in need as comfortable and safe as possible,” said Fagan.

The Crisis Services team at Sweetser can be reached through Maine’s state crisis response telephone number, 1.888.568.1112.
