Sweetser joins the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) marking National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day at the Hall of Flags of the State House, in Augusta, Friday, May 8.
Sweetser representatives join 26 other mental health services providers at the event, which is sponsored by DHHS.
The theme of this year’s event is “Thriving in the Community,” with an emphasis on how high school youth, who receive services for behavioral health issues, are more likely to have positive outcomes.
“National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day is a time for Sweetser and local communities to promote positive youth development, resilience, recovery, and the delivery of effective mental health services,” said Sweetser Vice President, Cindy Fagan.
“Specifically identifying a day to focus on ways to maintain healthy emotions helps reduce the stigma for people who seek help when the demands and stress of daily living become too much to handle alone,” Fagan said.
