Sweetser Opens Family Focus Program in Waterville

February 2, 2009 As a response to the need for intensive family treatment in Waterville, Sweetser will open its sixth residential Family Focus Program Monday, February 16 in Waterville at 3 Michael Lane.
Open house for the new co-ed, four-bed residential program is set for Thursday, February 12, from 3-7 p.m. The public is welcomed.
“Sweetser’s successful track record managing five other Family Focus programs – in Saco, Lewiston, Plymouth, Belfast and Sanford, was a factor in the State of Maine supporting the opening of Sweetser’s sixth program,” said Clinical Coordinator Tom Riddell.
Families participate in support groups, Riddell said, to help children through difficult periods. Family Focus programs require parents to be involved in all decision-making with their children. Families are also supported by trained therapists and direct care staff in a strength-based collaboration. “We adopt a family-friendly stance,” he said.
