Sweetser's School-based Outpatient Services has been awarded a $15,000 grant from the United Way of York County, which will be used to serve underinsured and uninsured children and families in York County.
The grant is part of the United Way's support of educational and health programs throughout the area. Grant recipients are chosen based on formal proposals which are submitted in the fall, and reviewed by a team of community volunteers.
Wendy Anders, Director of the prgoram said, "This money will help us increase our efforts in York County, and aid those children and families most in need of the support we can provide."
Sweetser's School-based program currently serves 93 schools in 20 districts throughout Maine. The School-based clinicians are located within the schools allowing them the opportunity to provide therapy to children and families within their local communities. In addition to individual, family and group counseling, that are focused on the individual needs of the child and his/her family, the clinicians can also work with schools and students to improve attendance, classroom behaviors and academic performance.
