Sweetser recently received a $5,000 grant from the York County Children's Aid Society Fund of the Maine Community Foundation (MCF) to support the Community-based Learning Program at The School at Sweetser. The program prepares Sweetser students for successful entry into the adult workforce by placing them at local businesses, where they receive on-the-job training, coaching and support.
"This grant will enable our students to learn and practice essential skills related to applying for a job, money and time management, teamwork, customer service and work ethics," said Carlton D. Pendleton, President & CEO of Sweetser. "We are grateful to the Maine Community Foundation for its commitment to helping vulnerable young people take their first steps toward lifelong work success."
With a history dating back to 1828, Sweetser is Maine's most comprehensive behavioral health care organization dedicated to serving children, adults and families. Sweetser offers services that address emotional disturbances, mental illness, behavioral disorders and learning disabilities through an array of educational programs, preventive services, community-based support services and residential services.
