January 27, 2009 Sweetser is pleased to announce that it has been awarded two one-year grants by United Way of York County (UWYC). This investment is intended to further UWYC’s mission to strengthen community by bringing people together to effect long lasting changes in community conditions that improve lives.
UWYC awarded grants totaling more than $800,000 to 75 programs throughout York County to support the building blocks of a good life: education, income and health. The work of UWYC takes on special significance this year as more York County residents seek help, many for the first time in their lives, to meet the basic needs of their families.
The two Sweetser grants, totaling $22,000, will support child and family case management services for uninsured York County clients and school-based families who are uninsured or under-insured, and served by Sweetser.
