Sweetser’s Substance Use Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), located at our Brunswick Hope and Healing Center, offers a personalized path to recovery for adults living with substance use disorders. Designed for individuals who do not require inpatient care, this program allows

participants to receive intensive, evidence‑based treatment while continuing to live at home and manage work, school, and family responsibilities.

The IOP meets four days a week in three‑hour sessions over the course of six weeks, reducing barriers to care while providing meaningful structure and support. Services include group therapy, psychoeducation, family education, individual weekly check-ins with a substance use counselor, and harm‑reduction strategies, all tailored through a comprehensive assessment to each person’s strengths and recovery goals. Clients of the IOP can also access Brunswick Hope and Healing clinic services, such as medication-assisted treatment.

Participants benefit from a supportive community environment where peers can share experiences and build connection—an essential component of long‑term recovery. Sweetser’s IOP meets individuals where they are, without judgment, and focuses on accessibility, dignity, and hope.

The program is open to adults age 18 and older with approved insurance. Individuals may self‑refer or be referred by others by visiting our Brunswick location at 329 Bath Road, calling the Sweetser PromiseLine at 800‑434‑3000, or emailing info@sweetser.org. A free prescreen is available to help determine the appropriate level of care.
