Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training teaches skills to recognize and respond to signs of a mental health or substance use challenge/crisis in others so you can provide initial support and help connect them to appropriate care and resources.

The training is designed for a general adult audience and is a nationally accredited certification course licensed through the National Council on Mental Wellbeing, taught by certified MHFA instructors from Sweetser through our ConnectME to Better Mental Health program. We offer:

  • Adult MHFA: Skills-based training that teaches people how to identify, understand, and respond to signs and symptoms of a mental health or substance use challenge/crisis in adults ages 18 and over.
  • Youth MHFA: Skills-based training that teaches how to identify, understand, and respond to an adolescent who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge/crisis.

Both the Adult and Youth training are eight hours, can be held in-person or virtually, and can be divided into two sessions.

Trainings available for individual registrations are currently TBA. Is your group interested in hosting a FREE mental health awareness training? Please email our Training Coordinator at MCashman@Sweetser.org.

PLEASE NOTE: No CEUs nor Contact Hours are being provided for the Mental Health First Aid courses.
