Sweetser currently administers approximately 142 Housing vouchers across the counties of Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford. The target population includes, but is not limited to, individuals and families experiencing serious mental health illness, substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, chronic physical health conditions, HIV/AIDS or related illnesses, Domestic Violence and are facing homelessness.
The Bridging Rental Assistance Program (BRAP) is funded through the Maine Department of Health and Human Services. Eligible households are responsible for paying 40 % of their income for rent. This program currently has been on a “pause” since March 24, 2025 due to funding restrictions and applications are not currently being accepted.
The Permanent Supportive Housing Program (PSHP) is funded through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Eligible households are responsible for paying 30 % of their income for rent.
The Maine Continuum of Care (CoC) uses data collected through the Coordinated Entry assessment process to prioritize people for PSHP eligibility who are experiencing homelessness in the State of Maine for housing resources. Individuals or families can contact 211 for further information and to be connected with resources in their area.
