Training Presenters

Susan Figueiredo, LMHC, LADC1, holds a MA in Clinical Psychology, from the University of Mass Dartmouth May 2005 and BA in Psychology, Minor Women’s Studies-University of NH, Plymouth.

She is a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor and Licensed Mental Health Counselor, MA since 2006.

Experience in Alcohol and Drug Treatment started in 1997 with the Fall River-based nonprofit working with 1^st offender groups and mandated batter intervention groups.

Worked for 4 years with the Department of Children and Families, first in a community-based program geared to services adolescents involved with DCF and then directly for the Department as a social worker. She then began working more closely with the opiate-dependent population, first as a clinician, then supervisor and Clinical Director.  After which she entered an executive management role as Regional Director of Operations. 

Currently she holds a position of Chief Operating Officer for Behavioral Healthcare Organization and recently opened her own private practice.   

While maintaining this full time career, she has had periods of time working in Emergency Room Department and Community Crisis Center…All with the focus on identifying the needs of those with addictive disorders and educating those around her on how to best support these individuals.

Susan is a volunteer and intern manager with 21 years’ experience in volunteer and program management in the non-profit sector.  She is a certified MHFA trainer in Adult and Youth as well as the supplemental courses including; Law Enforcement, Higher Ed, Veteran’s, etc.  she manages  the volunteer department and is responsible for recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers and interns, as well as growing the department to new levels. Susan has a degree in Criminal Justice, and began her career working for 10 years in Law Enforcement.  Her 21 years include working at Girl Scouts where she became certified as a Train the Trainer and Special Olympics.  Susan has trained other courses both at the state leadership conferences, and nationally.

Teresa L. King, LCPC

Teresa earned a Bachelors in Social Work, and Masters in Counseling at Oral Roberts University, in Tulsa Oklahoma. After graduating, Teresa returned to the coast of Maine and took a position as a Children’s Services Caseworker, for the State of Maine Department of Human Services in Ellsworth, Maine. While there, she earned her clinical counseling license. After leaving the Department of Human Services, Teresa worked at Crossroads Christian Counseling Center in Bangor Maine. In 1996 she opened her private practice in Northeast Harbor, Maine.

Additionally, Teresa was given the opportunity to join the clinical staff at Acadia Family Center, in Southwest Harbor Maine, in 2016. Teresa continues providing counseling services at both locations.

Wanda Anderson, LCSW 

Wanda is a native of Northern Maine. She has been a faculty member at the University of New England, MSW Program since 2003. Her area of interests include: working with children and families, sexual abuse issues, special needs children, case management, working with adult survivors, poverty issues and strength-based services.

Wanda is the Coordinator for Online Field Education and has presented extensively on Social Work Ethics, including: Rural Social Work, Ethical

Wilma Wake, LCSW

Wilma Wake is an Affiliate with Sweetser working with autistic children, adults, and families and co-author of an upcoming book on spectrum adults over 50.
