Description

Ethical decision making is an art.  It is a creative and cognitive process.  It is a journey into the unpredictable, messy practice of health care and human services.  Now more than ever, professionals need support in facing those inevitable moments when ethical decision making becomes a dilemma.  This course presents an overview of the most up to date codes of ethics used in counseling professions, guidance on how to search for specific information and practical ways to use the documents in making sound decisions.  This course will also guide you into decision making pathways using mindfulness skills and creativity to add to the knowledge of established standards of practice. We will use case scenarios, both planned and elicited from participants, to practice together.  We will include discussion of current events and factors that require us to stay flexible and creative while maintaining ethical standards of practice.  This course will be interactive and enjoyable as ethics is viewed through a creative lens.
