    • In 1999, I began my career in the helping profession at Gentiva Health Services as a Behavior Specialist. I then moved to Atlantic Home Health and, at the same time, worked for Bangor Counseling Center. I went on to develop and produce the necessary requirements to become my own agency, working independently through the state of Maine. I have worked for over four years at a residential treatment center for teenagers called Ironwood. While here, I have had the chance to work alongside nurses, therapists, and psychologists to help young people who are struggling with addictions, depression, PTSD, eating disorders, behavioral problems, and other various issues. I was able to help them in finding the necessary coping and problem solving skills needed to succeed in life.

I completed my internship in Professional Counseling at the Medical Center for Central Georgia. During this time, I had the chance to work with patients of various ages, backgrounds, and issues. I was also involved with crisis intervention, emotional support, and spiritual exploration with both individuals and families.

On a personal note, in 2004, I was six weeks away from my wedding day when my fiance fell from a ladder and became a quadriplegic. This turned my world upside down as I watched him go through much suffering over the course of many months and years. I look back at this time in my life as a stretching time; a time that made me dig deeply and search for answers. I believe that this time in my life gave me a compassionate and understanding heart toward those who are grieving and suffering.

I am trained in working with children, adolescents, and adults, individually or in a group setting (this includes families and couples). I am trained to provide treatment of mental illnesses, including depression, anxiety, adjustment problems, and relationship problems. I am also trained in crisis, trauma, and grief work. My area of experience and special interest includes working with individuals who have been abused or who have experienced other traumatic events or who are presently experiencing stress or anxiety. I also work with troubled youth and families.

In addition to private practice, I am a current Family Behavioral Health Clinician for an HCT program. I also work part time doing school based counseling for children and teenagers at a day treatment center.

Besides my academic and career interests, I absolutely love to run and hike! I believe that physical health is important when it comes to mental health. I encourage my patients to be healthy on more than just one level. Being healthy physically, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally will help an individual become more satisfied and content with themselves, as well
