Senator Henry Ingwersen is our 2025 recipient of the Sweetser Star – Legislative Champion award!
He is currently the Senate Chair of the Health & Human Services Committee and represents Arundel, Biddeford, Dayton, Hollis, and Lyman.
Sen. Ingwersen was instrumental in …advocating for $2 million in initial funds to aid in the construction of Maine’s first psychiatric residential treatment facility, a project for which Sweetser received the DHHS contract for our Saco campus. With his efforts, the HHS Committee was unanimous in its recommendation to include these funds in the budget before the full legislature signed off.
Sen. Ingwersen has also introduced additional legislation for the upcoming January session to secure the last remaining funds needed for full construction to begin and to ensure this critical program will open for Maine’s most at-risk youth.
Thank you, Senator Ingwersen, for your advocacy and leadership in championing mental health and for your commitment to supporting Maine children in need.

We are honored to present the team @wmtwtv with our first-ever Sweetser Star Media Partner in Hope award! 🏆
WMTW demonstrates the importance of local TV news and the power of the visual medium in telling stories that make a difference in people’s lives.
We have recently hit …over 100 episodes of their weekly live Mental Health Moment segment! It’s quite an accomplishment to think of all the topics, experts, and resources we’ve been able to highlight together.
WMTW Channel 8’s commitment to covering mental health goes beyond this segment, though. It is showcased through their mental health television specials and, most recently, in events that bring people together, like their Spring into Hope Maine Fashion Show, which helps fuel our mission.
Their efforts truly save lives.
We appreciate WMTW News Director Amy Beveridge, WMTW Anchor @mtorjie, and the WMTW marketing team for attending our Cookies & Cocktails event to receive the recognition.

Reducing the stigma attached to seeking #mentalhealth treatment and support is truly a team effort. It’s not something that can be done alone and certainly not without a strong media partner. We have that in @wmtwtv.
The @portlandpressherald Toy Fund has been supporting families in York, Cumberland, Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Androscoggin, and Knox counties since 1949.
This year, the Toy Fund is supporting 30 Sweetser families in some of our community-based programs, including 56 children. The fund is made …possible by donations from readers of the Portland Press Herald.
Our Volunteer & Intern Manager, Karen Dow, coordinated the effort and is helping to distribute the toys to the programs, where our families will receive the gifts. Thank you, Press Herald!
