Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing has trained over 4 million people in the U.S. to identify, understand, and respond to mental health and substance use challenges. Recently, our Board of Directors and full leadership team participated in a Mental Health First Aid training led by Mason Cashman, our MHAT Grant Coordinator and trainer. Everyone received their official certification.

Sweetser provides these trainings for FREE across Maine to business teams, civic groups, schools, and more. Learn more: https://www.sweetser.org/training-institute/workshops-and-courses/mental-health-first-aid/

Lori Voornas has been a staple on the airwaves for 32 years. While we will of course miss hearing her voice (& laughter) on the radio, it’s her kindness, warmth, and humor that will have a lasting impact. We appreciate Lori’s longstanding commitment to causes she cares about, like mental health awareness. Thank you for working with us to produce our Mental Health Minute radio series and for always supporting Sweetser over the years! 🎙

June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month. 💚

Men die by suicide at 4 times the rate that women do and account for nearly 80% of all suicide deaths. Men are less likely to seek help, often due to stigma around vulnerability and emotional expression.

It’s important to remember: It’s not weak to speak. @wmtwtv @mtorjie

Congratulations to our Class of 2025! We were proud to honor our 3 Saco school graduates at a ceremony for students and their families.

To acknowledge student achievements and celebrate this important milestone, school staff gave out awards including awards for experiential learning, academic achievement, most improved, and leadership. The success of our 2025 grads is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our incredible school staff. Our students couldn't have done it without them.
