"It has to be prescribed by a doctor. But there's no hard and fast rules about who can't get it and who can," Kaplan said. "The concern is some doctors will not do a screening for eating disorders." Kaplan noted that healthcare workers treating eating disorders have …just started seeing more patients adversely affected by weight loss drugs, making treatment more difficult. For patients with anorexia or who have a distorted view of their body image, they may seek out the drug, looking to speed up weight loss to unhealthy levels.
